Little Tahoma Direct

Little Tahoma is actually not so little making for a worthy ski objective, with a series of steep panels providing an excellent and less hazardous descent.

The 3rd tallest mountain in Washington and a prominent satellite peak of Mount Rainier, Little Tahoma contains a broad skiable Eastern flank with several descent options. Making a low approach from Paradise crossing beneath the Cowlitz and Ingraham Glaciers allows for huge fall-line descent down the Whitman, a less severe glacier with fewer objective hazards than the summit routes on Big Tahoma.

After a short and exposed summit scramble to an unbelievable vantage point, a steep headwall can be descended onto the Whitman Glacier. Stick to the skiers right for the steepest pitches, linking together a series of panels and retracing your ascent back to the massive glacial carved valley on the way back to Paradise.
