Wilson Glaicer Headwall

The Wilson Glacier Headwall provides a beautiful, precipitous line and a step up in commitment from the neighboring Kautz and Fuhrer Finger.

Occupying a similar neighborhood to the more traveled lines with a more engaging descent, the Wilson Glacier Headwall weaves around cliffs amidst stunning exposure. The route from the summit shares the upper-mountain considerations of the upper Nisqually, breaking off skiers right from the Wapowety Cleaver onto the impressive hanging headwall. 

The route locates a distinct couloir on the right side of the upper headwall, before traversing across the fall-line around a cliff band and back onto an incredible long, steep and sustained lower pitch. Hazards to mitigate here include the Kautz Glacier seracs above and a series of bergshrunds below, before meeting back up with the more commonly traveled routes continuing onto the vast lower mountain.
