Alta Via di Fleres

Alta Via di Fleres (Pflerscher Höhenweg) is a high-altitude, multi-day hiking line in South Tyrol’s Val di Fleres (Pflerschtal). It runs through remote terrain in the Stubai Alps and is built around hut-to-hut travel rather than an everyday day hike.

Expect an expert-level outing with steep climbing, rocky ground, and some sections with exposure/ledges. The route reaches very high altitude, up to about 3,016 m at the Weiße Wand (White Wall) area.

A common structure for the route is 2–4 days depending on itinerary and pace, with overnighting at mountain shelters along the way. Rifugio Cremona alla Stua (Magdeburger Hütte) at 2,425 m is a frequently used overnight stop.

The trail’s itinerary ties into the Val di Fleres drainage and key Pass/peak areas around the Tribulaun massif. Notable route highlights used by hikers include the Cascate dell’Inferno (“Hell’s Waterfall”), reached during the traverse after moving through the Tribulaun-side terrain.

For access, the route is typically approached from Colle Isarco (Gossensass) or from the Sasso (Stein) parking area on the approach side of Val di Fleres. If you’re using public transit, bus line 313 connects Colle Isarco to the valley access areas.

Seasonally, plan around the summer trekking window: mid-June through September is commonly targeted. Above roughly 2,000 m, snow/ice hazards can persist into early summer, so early-season starts need extra caution.
