Amherst Chute
A steep and thrilling descent down the Kitchen Wall. This line is sustained throughout, features mandatory airs, and tends to slough big on storm days. Approach this like a big mountain line, rather than an unmarked glade. Skin up the auto road to the Amherst Trail, take this to the junction with the Cliff Trail to a snowfield where you get a good view, ski through sparse baby trees to a bench, going straight here requires a mandatory ice slide. Going right and cutting back left avoids. Drop a small rock and follow a left trending traverse to a small mandatory air, land at an awkward cross-fall and you’re in. Drop into the steep chute and arrive at a final small mandatory air or pointer. Pop it and land in the wide open finish gully, make sure you hang a right for the cleanest exit, miking the open turns well into the woods. Ski out to the unmarked crosscut.
