Beckler Peak Trail
Beckler Peak Trail #1240 is a point-to-point (out-and-back) hike in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest that climbs from the Jennifer Dunn Trailhead to East Beckler Peak (5,026 ft) and returns the same way. The route is numbered Trail 1240 and is managed within the Skykomish Ranger District.
Route length is about 7.8 miles round-trip, with roughly 2,286 ft of elevation gain. Expect the work to be concentrated near the end: the trail tops out along a ridge and then delivers summit viewpoints before turning around for the descent back to the trailhead.
The standard start is from the Jennifer Dunn Trailhead at the end of Forest Service Road #6066, about 10 road miles from Skykomish. From the highway access point, FR 6066 is reached by turning north off Highway 2 near Milepost 52; the trailhead sits at the end of that road.
Trail 1240 begins with a climb along a decommissioned logging road segment for the first stretch, then settles into mature forest as it heads up toward Harlan Saddle (around 3,900 ft). After Harlan Saddle, the route continues with a series of broad switchbacks through big trees.
As you near the upper elevations, the trail sidehills and tightens into steeper switchbacks and rock-stair sections, carrying you through steep alpine forest and onto the summit ridge. Near the top you pass remnants of an older structure (a trapper’s cabin remains) before the final push to East Beckler Peak.
Summit terrain is small and drops off to the north, so keep extra control around the edge. From East Beckler Peak, the view runs across Mt. Baring, Merchant Peak, Eagle Rock, and the Monte Cristo Peaks to the north, with Glacier Peak to the northeast; clear visibility can extend well beyond the local ridges.
Water is very limited on this hike, so plan to carry enough from the start. The Wild Sky Wilderness is on the route corridor, so wilderness regulations apply while you’re in that area.
