Bowen Gulch Trail
Bowen Gulch Trail (#119) is a one-way 7.4-mile hiking route from the Bowen Baker Trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park, heading west into the Never Summer Wilderness to Bowen Pass (elevation 11,465 feet).
Expect a steady climb for much of the route: the hike gains about 2,600 feet to the pass, and the overall effort is described as moderate to hard.
The trail provides access to the Continental Divide Trail at Bowen Pass, making it a logical choice if you’re connecting into longer divide routes.
For wilderness character, Bowen Gulch is within an area known for old-growth spruce-fir stands; the route travels about five miles into that older forest.
In terms of management and practical planning, the trail is operated in partnership with the US Forest Service and sits across Rocky Mountain National Park and adjacent wilderness, with park entry fees required for the trailhead approach.
Dog access is restricted on Rocky Mountain National Park trails; camping/overnight rules and timed-entry needs can vary by season, so confirm current requirements before you go.
