California Riding and Hiking Trail
California Riding and Hiking Trail (CRHT), Trail 24E03, is a 51.0-mile point-to-point hike in Sierra National Forest. It runs from the Yosemite National Park boundary (north) to the Dusy-Ershim OHV Route 7S32 (south).
This is an equestrian-compatible route as well as a long-distance hiking route, with use listed for hiking and backpacking. On the ground, the trail is predominantly dirt (standard/terra trail surface).
Plan for a long, multi-day outing and manage logistics for end-to-end travel between the Yosemite-area start and the Dusy-Ershim OHV terminus. The route’s long-distance framing is supported by its “long-distance” subtype and use as a connector across the backcountry trail network.
Seasonality is constrained by elevation: the snow-free hiking window typically stretches from mid-to-late summer through fall. If you’re going outside that window, expect snow travel issues and plan accordingly (route may be seasonally affected).
Prep like an established long-distance route, but still treat it as variable in practice: scout or inspect committed features and check current conditions when weather turns wet or stormy, since Sierra high-country trail travel can change quickly.
If you’re looking for a segment approach, the Sierra National Forest trailhead network includes access connectors that tie into CRHT (for example, Walton Trail via a short connection to the CRHT and Lillian Lake loop, and Badger Flat via a short intersecting trail).
