Caribou Plain Trail is a short, easy loop in Fundy National Park (2.1 km) that typically takes 1 to 1.5 hours. It threads through multiple forest and wetland community types—thick evergreen stands, leafy hardwood groves, streamside alder thickets, and a bog—so even on a compact route you get real habitat variety.

Route layout is a loop with an early boardwalk segment and a second, larger loop. The first small loop uses a boardwalk that goes through a bog area and across a wide stream valley; after that, the route turns into a mixed-forest circuit.

Near the end of the larger loop, there are two side trails to lookout platforms for views over Caribou Lake. Expect interpretive signage along the way that explains the local landscape and natural history.

This trail is popular and is commonly used as a moose-viewing walk; beavers and a range of boreal birds are also regular targets. The trail’s bog and lake edges mean you may have wet footing even on easy terrain.

In summer, plan for flies because bog habitat acts as a breeding area—bring bug spray. Surfaces can be wet or muddy in spots, so waterproof footwear helps.

The route is an accessible option for at least part of its length: the boardwalk section is wheelchair accessible and loops through the bog/stream-valley area.
