Caucasian trail

Caucasian trail (Кавказская тропа) is the Russian long-distance hiking route aiming to connect the Caspian Sea to the Black Sea, running from Derbent to Sochi. The long-term concept is a continuous thru-hike across the Greater Caucasus, with the wider effort organized around the same branded route name used in Russian trail materials.

The project is described as still developing: full infrastructure and formal support are being built, while the route line itself is available for experienced hikers to follow using the available wayfinding/tracks and preparation resources.

This North Caucasus corridor is planned to traverse a broad range of mountain terrain, from high alpine passes to forested areas and other varied landscapes across multiple republics/regions. The route’s overall scale is presented as roughly 1,400–2,000 km for the full journey.

For navigation and planning, the route’s own materials emphasize downloading/using track data for the sections you intend to hike, and following the route’s updates as the trail work progresses year to year.

The official project site runs a “seasonal” cycle with dated start references for a current year and provides access to segment options (including “main route” and additional routes) plus the ability to register a completion or download tracks after a short inquiry.

Along the specific route piece represented by this item, the terrain is classified as a ground surface hiking path with no horses and no motor-vehicle access implied for the route character. The segment is part of a short member route network within the branded trail system.
