Cloudy Pass Trail (#1256) is a long-distance, rugged backcountry hiking route in Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, within Glacier Peak Wilderness. The mapped trail is unpaved and foot-only.

A common access pattern starts at Holden Village and heads through Railroad Creek Valley, passing Hart Lake, then switchbacking and continuing onward toward Upper Lyman Lake before the route climbs toward Cloudy Pass.

Expect a sustained climb from the Lyman Lakes basin up to Cloudy Pass, where the route opens into alpine terrain. From Cloudy Pass, the trail intersects the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT).

Cloudy Pass Trail also connects hikers onward toward routes that continue beyond the pass (including trips toward Suiattle Pass). Depending on your plan, you can continue on maintained trail with the PCT or pursue additional off-trail connections farther into the country around Spider Gap.

The route is used as a strenuous hike with steep elevation gain and exposed terrain. Conditions vary with the season; late summer is typically the safest time window, while early summer can involve deep snow and hazardous pass conditions.

Length varies with the chosen trailhead and turnaround. Reported distances for Cloudy Pass Trail outings commonly fall in the ~18–20 mile range.
