Florida Trail
The Florida Trail—federally designated as the Florida National Scenic Trail—is a 1,500-mile through-hike spanning Florida, intended as a continuous, non-motorized hiking route.
The route runs from Big Cypress National Preserve at its southern terminus to Gulf Islands National Seashore at its northern terminus (Fort Pickens).
Most thru-hikers plan for 60 to 90 days to cover the full 1,500 miles.
Typical logistics for a thru-hike revolve around a mix of gateway towns and long stretches of backcountry; the trail is managed as a statewide network with multiple land managers and a volunteer maintenance component.
The trail uses unpaved hiking tread where mapped, with portions also described as track surface on the corridor.
The trail passes through distinct ecological regions across Florida—from cypress and swamp landscapes in the south to river country and hardwood forests farther north, and coastal environments in the panhandle.
