Hasenclever Iron Trail
Hasenclever Iron Trail is a yellow-blazed interpretive hiking route built around an old woods road connecting Ringwood Manor’s historic iron operations to the Wanaque River footbridge area.
Expect a short, but workmanlike, long-distance hike: about 5 miles one-way, or a longer out-and-back depending on how you structure the day.
The route is classed moderate to hard, with an elevation gain that can reach roughly 1,397 ft; plan on 4 to 5.5 hours for a typical hike length.
Interpretive content focuses on the historic iron-mining and iron-working operations that supplied Revolutionary War-era efforts, with numerous trail signs along the way.
Mid-route, the trail passes through the Peter’s Mine area and then continues through woods-road terrain associated with Beech Farms; those sections are part of why the route feels more like a connected woods-road walk than a single narrow footpath.
A practical connection for the trail is via the Wanaque River footbridge: the western end is described as linking to the Sterling Ridge Trail using that crossing.
