Himri Pass Trail

Himri Pass Trail is a demanding long-distance hiking route in Himachal Pradesh that links the Raison/Kullu valley side to the Lagh (Lug) valley. The route centers on Himri Pass (Himri Pass, 3261m), making it a true pass crossing rather than a local out-and-back.

The climb is typically steep, with rough footing described as passing through dense vegetation at times and then into rockier terrain as you gain height toward the pass. Expect a harder day if you push for a direct crossing and keep moving on steep grades.

The descent drops into the Lagh Valley toward Gramagh/Gramang Village. The route’s difficulty is driven less by distance and more by steep, technical ground management on the way down, especially where conditions make footing uncertain.

Most hikers access the crossing from the Benchi area, commonly starting near the Devta Veer Nath Temple in Benchi by private vehicle or taxi. From there, the itinerary follows the pass line to Himri Pass, then continues down into the Lagh Valley side.

A standard pass crossing is commonly planned as a 1–2 day effort, while longer options extend the trek by connecting onward from the Himri side toward Barot (making it a multi-day outing).

The trail is often described as visible enough to follow when you’re paying attention, but not consistently marked on every segment—so navigation diligence matters, particularly on the valley-side descent where people note fewer clear indicators.
