Live Oak Springs Trail

Live Oak Springs Trail (4E03) is a short connector backcountry hike inside the San Bernardino National Forest that runs from the Palm Canyon Trail 4E01 junction to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT).

The trail intersects east of the PCT and continues to connect with the Palm Canyon Trail 4E01; Live Oak Spring sits about one mile east of the PCT junction.

Plan for strenuous hiking on an unmaintained route. Expect it to be hard to follow, with overgrown brush and sections that can be “lost,” so route-finding support (offline topo maps and GPS) matters.

This isn’t a bike-friendly corridor: bicycles aren’t allowed on the PCT link, and the route is managed as standard/terra trail on dirt.

Reaching the route is straightforward if you’re starting on the PCT: begin the PCT 6.5 miles from Highway 74, then work toward the Live Oak Spring area and the eastward trail linkages.

There are no fees tied to this trail, and the management unit is Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument; office hours for that unit run Thursday through Monday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
