Prairie View from Barrier Lake

16km // 900m https://skiuphill.ca/pages/prairie-view-jewell-pass-from-barrier-lake This is a great early season long run. The lower elevation on that loop allows for faster snowmelt and it is one of the first dry trails in the Bow valley (especially around Prairie View). I like to run up Jewell pass, which is a beautiful gradual climb, then down the switchbacks of the regular Prairie View hike. On a hot day, this direction also allows you to spend less time in the sun on the Prairie View trail. Distance: 16 km loop from Barrier Lake Difficulty: Moderate Total Elevation Gain: 900 meters Where to park: Barrier Lake Day Use Area Surface: Varied, double-track to technical single tracks.
