South Coaster Adaptive Trail
Route Details
South Coaster Adaptive Trail is a purpose-built, beginner-friendly adaptive mountain bike trail in Alice Lake Provincial Park near Squamish. The trail is about 1 kilometre long and is built around wide, smooth terrain intended to support adaptive mountain bike users.
The route connects into the Bob McIntosh Memorial Trail network, linking with Miki's Magic and Cardrona to form a longer adaptive riding loop in the Alice Lake trail system. Universal design standards are incorporated so multiple adaptive bike types can use the trail, including handcycles, recumbent trikes, and off-road electric bikes.
For planning, expect the trailhead to be close to the main parking lots and campground area in Alice Lake Park. Before you ride, do a quick scout of any built features and inspect the surface closely if conditions have been wet, since adaptive-friendly, smooth running surfaces can still become slick or muddy after precipitation.
The South Coaster Adaptive Trail officially opened April 15, 2025, with the project described as a $180,000 investment to expand inclusive, adaptive mountain biking access at Alice Lake Park. The trail was created in partnership with the Squamish Off-Road Cycling Association (SORCA).
