Takesi Trek
Takesi Trek is a pre-Columbian stone path hike in Bolivia that drops from the high, arid Cordillera Real into the warmer Yungas cloud-forest zone.
Route length is about 37–40 km (commonly planned around ~37 km / 23.5 miles), with most hikers doing it as a multi-day descent rather than a single long day.
A typical schedule is 2–3 days: day 1 centers on climbing to Takesi Pass (around 4,650 m) after reaching the trailhead near the San Francisco Mine / Ventilla area.
From Takesi Pass the trek turns into extended downhill trekking, and day 2–3 focus on the transition into subtropical cloud forest and passing small settlements such as Takesi and Kakapi before finishing at Mina Chojilla or Yanacachi.
End-to-end planning commonly starts in the Ventilla/San Francisco Mine area and finishes at the Mina Chojilla / Yanacachi side of the Yungas.
The route is strongly altitude-driven: allow time to acclimatize before attempting the high pass (around 4,650 m), rather than starting immediately after arriving in La Paz.
