The Torment Tour

1 photo

A leaner, steeper alternative to the Forbidden Tour, this modern variation travels over the Torment-Forbidden Ridgeline with a more direct descent onto the Forbidden Glacier.

The Torment Tour covers less terrain of a more severe quality than its counterpart. Rather than ascend Sharkfin Col, the route traverses left from Boston Basin navigating a steep couloir and hanging face to reach a distinct col which is more commonly traveled on the Torment-Forbidden alpine rock route. Note that this ascent is highly exposed and committing.

This grants access to an incredible, Alaskan-esque headwall and glacier descent onto the Forbidden Glacier, closeby to the North face of Mount Torment and other extreme descents in the vicinity. These lines can be skied down to Moraine lake, or alternatively a tricky rappel into the upper Moraine Lake Couloir allows for a getaway hatch back up and over the ridgeline to Torment Basin. From here a traverse can be made either back to Boston Basin or down the Eldorado climber's trail. The Torment Tour was first completed by the late Matt Primono and team in 2022.
