Yes! Outmap includes a fully-functional web/desktop planner that syncs automatically with the Outmap app on your phone. Plan routes, import files, set custom waypoints—and everything transfers seamlessly to your phone when you’re ready to head out.
Maps & Terrain Layers
No. You can download maps and content in advance of heading out. Once downloaded, your entire plan—including custom waypoints and layers—will remain accessible even offline.
Click the "+" button in the app (on the bottom right) and then select “Download map”. Choose the region you want to download, and the resolution and map types that you want.
Outmap offers high-resolution basemaps, multiple satellite imagery sources, 3D visualisation, and advanced terrain layers: slope angle & aspect, elevation bands, flat-area shading, avalanche-risk overlay, and custom terrain layers you can tailor yourself.
Yes — Outmap supports mass import/export of GPX, KML, KMZ, and GeoJSON files, so you can bring in your own tracks or shared routes easily.
That’s the “Pointer” tool, which shows you distance and vertical gain/loss between any two points — helping you gauge exposure and plan with terrain in mind. Check it out here.
Safety & Avalanche Info
Yes. For Canada and the US, Avalanche-risk overlays and forecast data are available (with plans to expand coverage to Europe soon).
Use terrain layers (slope angle, aspect, elevation), 3D visualisation, and custom layers to assess routes. Canadian and American avalanche bulletins are integrated into the map, and you can access a weather forecast too.
Coverage & Use Cases
Yes — Outmap’s maps and tools are built for global use. Whether you’re in Japow, the US, or exploring the glaciers of Europe, Outmap is designed to support anywhere you want to explore.
