Abri du Vent
Abri du Vent is a backcountry alpine hut and day shelter in Parc régional Montagne du Diable (Quebec). It has a capacity for 7 people, with 7 single mattresses on the mezzanine, and it’s used both for overnight stays and as a daytime stop for park visitors.
Overnight use requires a reservation, with check-out at 10 a.m. Users pick up the key at Village des Bâtisseurs (P2) to access the beds. Dogs are not allowed, and snowmobile/ATV access is prohibited. There is no drinking water in the cabin; if you use the baggage transport service (minimum 4 persons), the park supplies 20 litres of drinking water when delivered with your baggage. Amenities listed include a wood stove (heating wood provided), outhouse, tables/benches, and a large pot to heat water, plus basic cooking/shelter gear like a Coleman stove and gas, matches/lighter, and lighting system; recommended equipment includes a sleeping bag and pillow.
Pricing is set by the park’s overnight rates (huts: de l’Aube, du Vent, Des Ruisseau, with Abri du Vent priced per night for 2 people and under, plus add-ons for additional adults and children). Non-members also pay park access fees of $7.83 + taxes per adult per night (free for 18 and under). Accommodation rules include taking out all trash to respect “leave no trace,” locking the cabin before leaving, and not making fires or smoking outside predetermined places except where allowed.
