ACT Forests Hut

ACT Forests Hut (also known as Boboyan Hut) is a small historic backcountry hut in Namadgi National Park, in the Australian Capital Territory. It sits about 200 metres uphill and to the east of Old Boboyan Road, and is part of a forestry-area set of structures associated with the old Boboyan Pine Forest operation.

The hut is a simple, one-room shelter used for day use and emergency cover. It has very basic facilities including a toilet and water, and it includes an anteroom/verandah; it was built for lunch-shelter use by the forestry gang and later preserved for temporary shelter.

Use is generally free and there’s no booking system. For overnight stays, sleeping inside is intended for emergencies—carry a tent and set it up in the vicinity instead; the hut is best thought of as emergency accommodation or day shelter rather than a prepared campground.
