Bald Lake Cabin

Bald Lake Cabin is a public-use wilderness hut in Nancy Lake State Recreation Area (Alaska). It’s a wood-heated log cabin with a bunk layout for up to 6 guests, and it includes a wood stove plus an outside fire ring and picnic table.

Sleep/heat and what to bring: there are bunk beds and a wood stove; guests bring their own sleeping bag and sleeping pad (or air mattress) and bring supplies for cooking and water treatment. Firewood is brought by guests (wood use is restricted to appropriate dead-and-down material).

Arrival and timing: the summer approach is via a quarter-mile walking trail from the Nancy Lake Parkway trailhead at Mile 2.5; in winter, park at the Winter Trailhead at Mile 2.2 and travel about 0.3 miles to the cabin using registered snowmobiles, skis, snowshoes, or dog sled. ATVs are prohibited. Reservations are required, and a fee applies; the cabin is also subject to state park rules such as no camping within 300 feet of a public use cabin.
