Barker Cabin is a rustic wilderness backcountry cabin operated by Maine Coast Heritage Trust on the Rocky Lake Preserve in Whiting, Maine. It’s set up for simple, off-grid stays and is used by paddle-in guests (with weekly rental) or can be reached via a gravel camp road.

The cabin sleeps 4 in a two-room layout with a loft. On-site basics include a two-burner camp stove, a sink with an engineered grey water system, oil lamps/candles for light, and a wood stove; guests bring their own bedding and their own water for cooking and drinking. A wood stove is available but the cabin is not insulated, and an outhouse sits behind the cabin.

Reservations are required and the cabin is rented weekly during the primary recreation season, with bookings that tend to fill quickly. Expect to pack in essentials like drinking water, bedding, and food, plus headlamps/flashlights since light is provided via lamps/candles rather than powered lighting.
