Big Rock

Big Rock, also called meqsel (“nose”), is a glacial erratic beside Lefeuvre Road on the east edge of Aldergrove Lake Regional Park in Aldergrove, British Columbia. The conglomerate block measures about 10.8 by 12 metres at its base and stands nearly 8 metres high.

The rock has a top-rope climbing setup with two substantial belay anchors on top. Reaching the top involves a committing scramble, and the descent is more demanding; use appropriate climbing judgment rather than treating it as a casual scramble. Paint and graffiti have obscured parts of the rock’s surface. The surrounding park trail system provides a short approach, while the erratic’s position offers views toward the Twin Sisters, Mount Baker, Mount Shuksan, and the Lucky Four Range.
