Blackadder Rest is a privately owned, public day-shelter on Frazer’s Flat in the Lewis Pass area. It’s a red-roofed historic hut used for shelter and lunch stops, with two interior rooms and an unlocked door for visitors.

There are no bunks or beds—so it’s not an overnight hut. Expect a place to eat and warm up (there’s an open fire) plus basic cooking/utensils like pots, pans, and a kettle, and a fire pit outside.

To reach it, approach along the Lake Daniell Track network from the Marble Hill campsite and then follow the Pell Stream route toward the hut; it sits near Pell Stream and nearby rivers. The hut relates to gold-mining history in the area and includes local information and a memorial to Ross Blackadder.
