Booth's Rock Trail
Booth's Rock Trail is a 5.14 km loop hike in Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario.
The route is mapped as a famous hike and is typically done as a clockwise loop using the blue trail blazes, including descending a long staircase rather than climbing it.
Expect a mix of walking along the route’s lakefront/low areas and a gradual push up to Booth’s Rock, where the key payoff is the lookout over Rock Lake and the surrounding wilderness.
A common mid-route reference is Rosepond Lake along the blue-blazed loop, where the trail reaches a quieter shoreline break before continuing toward the more demanding portion.
The top includes multiple viewing spots on Booth’s Rock; the terrain funnels you through a climb to the cliff top before you work back down as the loop continues.
On the back half of the trail, the corridor is tied to wetlands and shoreline features, including reports of beaver activity and smaller ponds in that section.
The loop returns via an abandoned railway corridor feature, with historical remains encountered along the way (including remnants from a private estate area).
For planning, the Ontario trail portion is listed at km 40.5 on the Rock Lake road (about 9 km south of Highway 60), and typical completion time is about 2–3 hours for most hikers.
