Bradley Pond Trail

Bradley Pond Trail is a long, moderate hiking route into the Adirondack High Peaks region, used as an access line toward the Santanoni Range. It starts with an extended approach on road before you turn onto the actual trail system that climbs toward Bradley Pond.

Expect the route to feel rugged and wet in places. The mapped trail follows primarily singletrack/footpath character with ground surface, and sections along the way can be very muddy, including stretches that get worse in wet weather.

A key landmark on the route is Bradley Pond itself, reached after the climb portion of the day. Past the pond, the route continues on toward backcountry junctions used for further high-peak objectives in the Santanoni group.

Near mile 4.7, there’s a lean-to option by Bradley Pond that’s used by hikers and backpackers who want to break or camp while staying on the legal overnight infrastructure in the area. From there, continuing hikers move beyond the pond into more navigation-demanding terrain.

The trail’s broader role is as part of bigger Adirondack objectives tied to the Santanoni Range. The route system can be extended to include additional peaks and herd-path travel beyond Bradley Pond, turning the overall outing into a longer, higher-effort day or overnight plan.

For planning, it’s useful to treat this as an endurance hike: the route is commonly described at about 6.2 miles one way (roughly 10–16+ miles round-trip when continuing to summits), with around 931 feet of gain and about 1,114 feet of descent for the core Bradley Pond approach portion. Carry waterproof footwear and be ready for routefinding when you leave the more clearly defined trail sections.
