Cabane d'Auruzan
Cabane d'Auruzan is a tiny backcountry hut at 1620 m in the Vallée de Siguer (Siguer/Sabarthès area). It’s unguarded and intended mainly as a shepherd’s shelter outside the grazing period; inside, there are only 2 strict sleeping places (matress sleeping on a bat-flanc plus one additional spot on the floor).
During the grazing season (about June 1 to October 1), the hut is rented/occupied by the local shepherd, so use is effectively for emergencies only. Outside that period, the hut is left open for hikers on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system.
The hut is very basic: no fireplace/wood stove is provided. Practical supplies left in place include a table, bedding (a mattress on the bat-flanc plus additional floor sleeping space), dishes, and gas plus a small burner; you still need to bring your own water treatment and handle your own waste.
For planning logistics, the nearest water is coming from within about 100 m, while there are no latrines or other sanitation facilities for the hut itself.
