Cabane de Denladel
Cabane de Denladel is a small, unstaffed backcountry shepherd’s hut in the French Pyrenees, used as a basic overnight stop on the way into the Montcalm / Col d’Appy area. It is designed for solo sleeping (one unheated bunk area), with no caretaker and no reservation system; use is first-come, first-served.
Bring your own heat and water planning: there’s no fireplace provided, and there’s no heating system. The hut has a gas stove and strong insulation, but you should expect limited services (no latrines or running water), and plan to get water from nearby sources rather than relying on the hut.
Access to the hut starts from the parking at l’étang d’Appy: follow the marked path toward the lake, pass under two lines of high-tension power, then near 1250 m leave the main path at a small wood edge to climb onto the ridge, which leads to the hut at about 1500 m.
