Cabane Depetro Gervasoni

Cabane Depetro Gervasoni is a small, rustic stone mountain shelter in the Vercors range of the French Alps. It is a non-wardened, free-access bivouac/emergency shelter used for quick rests or an unstaffed overnight. It’s an old shepherd structure restored as a mountain shelter in 1996 by Jean-Pierre Depetro and Roger Gervasoni.

Sleeping and inside setup are very limited: no mattresses or blankets are provided, and there is no designated space for a night stay. Inside you’ll find only a small table, four chairs, and a stove (with stove service out of order as of May 2026). A water source is not within 100 m of the hut; nearby you have a small catchment system tied to the roof for collected water, but it requires treatment before use.

Use is on a first-come, first-served basis with no booking system. Keep the area clean and pack out all trash; the shelter is subject to forest-fire restrictions, including rules that prohibit lighting fires inside and within 200 m of woods and plantations.
