Cameron Lake Cabin
Route Details
Cameron Lake Cabin is an Alpine Club of Canada backcountry hut built in 1929 and described as the oldest surviving warden cabin in Waterton National Park. It’s a winter-only booking, set about 400 m from Cameron Lake, and it’s used as a base for ski touring, ice climbing, and cross-country skiing.
The hut has propane heat and lights, sleeps up to 8, and is set up with a mattress bed arrangement and an outhouse (water source is snow melt; no oven is provided). The ski-in is short with Trail Distance 3 km and about 50 m elevation gain; access is by driving about 45 minutes south of Pincher Creek on Hwy 6 South to Waterton National Park, then along the Akamina Parkway to the Little Prairie day use area parking, and skiing about 3 km along the road to the hut in the trees (about 400 m before Cameron Lake). Rates are $50 for members and $60 for non-members, and pricing can change.
