Camino de San Ildefonso a Rascafría

Camino de San Ildefonso a Rascafría is a point-to-point long-distance hike in the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park that links Real Sitio de San Ildefonso (La Granja) with Rascafría, passing over Puerto del Reventón.

It’s a steep, high-mountain line with rocky ground and firebreak/track-style segments; the route includes demanding climbs and rougher sections that aren’t just a stroll between villages.

Expect to pass several named landmarks along the way, including Chozo de Fuente del Infante, Cerro del Diablo, Cerro Morete (2,130 m), and the key saddle of Puerto del Reventón.

Route length is about 17 km one-way; plan on a full-day effort if you’re hiking it as a through route, with longer distances when you build a loop.

Land management can affect parts of the route: forest restoration work has been reported on Monte de Utilidad Pública n.º 258 “Los Saltillos,” affecting the Camino de San Ildefonso a Rascafría between Peña del Berrueco and Fuente del Infante, and it may also impact nearby tracks between Peña del Berrueco and Fuente del Infante.

Given the length, elevation change, and the rough terrain, carry enough water and navigation support for long stretches between help; the route is designed for hikers comfortable with sustained ascent and uncertain footing.
