Caribou Creek Cabin

Caribou Creek Cabin is an NPS backcountry hut reached via the Caribou Creek Trail. It sits at the end of the trail—about three miles from the Nabesna Road trailhead at Mile 19.2 (parking at Mile 18.9). Use is reservation-only year-round, and reservations are made up to six months in advance; maximum stay is 7 nights per person in a 30-day period.

Inside is a wood stove, a table, two twin wooden bunks (sleeps two), and a rustic pit toilet; there’s no running water or plumbing. Bring your own sleeping and dining gear and take all food and trash with you when you leave; burying garbage is prohibited. Water can be collected from Caribou Creek about a short walk northwest of the cabin, and visitors may gather dead and down wood for firewood (replenish stored wood for the next user). Dogs are allowed (clean up after your pet). The trail can be extremely muddy in spring or after rain, and recreational ATV use is not allowed while the trail is closed to recreational ATV use until it is repaired.
