Chalet Forestier du Turet
Chalet Forestier du Turet is an unstaffed, unguarded backcountry shelter in the Jura near Gex, used as a simple refuge rather than a staffed hut. It is set within the Haute Chaîne du Jura National Nature Reserve, where strict rules apply to camping and off-trail access.
Sleeping places inside are effectively zero, so treat it as an emergency/break shelter rather than overnight accommodation. There is no wood stove detail confirmed for this exact chalet, but the structure can provide cover when open parts are accessible.
Because the shelter sits in a “quiet zone,” access is typically restricted from mid-December through late June. Reserve regulations also prohibit dogs (even on leash), fires, camping, plant picking, motor vehicles, and litter disposal in the reserve area.
To reach it, use the signed approach from the trail system in the Turet area; one commonly used route climbs through the forest to the chalet along the way to the Belvédère du Turet viewpoint.
