Chalet-Refuge de Chamoissière
Chalet-Refuge de Chamoissière is a mountain refuge in the Massif des Écrins area of the Hautes-Alpes, sitting at about 2,106 m. It’s run by Sébastien Louvet and offers up to 20 sleeping places. Opening runs mid-March to mid-September, making it a summer-oriented base for hut-to-hut and day hike plans around the Parc national des Écrins entrance zone.
Access is on foot only. The main approaches include: (1) from the Col du Lautaret via the sentier des Crevasses (around 2 hours, summer only); (2) via the GR54 from the hamlet “Pied de col” above Villar-d’Arêne (about 1 h 30); or (3) via the GR54 from the village of Le Casset (Monêtier-les-Bains), heading toward the Col d’Arsine and then descending to the refuge (about 3 hours total). The refuge is also described as renovated with an energy-autonomous setup using photovoltaic panels and a wind turbine.
