Chalet-refuge de Chapouilloux à Chalmazel
Chalet-refuge de Chapouilloux à Chalmazel is a backcountry-style lodge at 1300 m between the Col du Béal and the ski slopes of Chalmazel. It’s set up for group stays and is run by the Eclaireuses Eclaireurs de France framework, with a capacity of 16 beds. The building includes dormitories plus a sanitary block, a large kitchen, and a main room with a wood stove, alongside a terrace and space where tents can be pitched below the chalet.
Sleeping and on-site layout are centered on 4 rooms of 4 beds each. Sanitary facilities are extensive: 3 showers, 2 toilets, and 6 washbasins, plus a toilet and shower for people with disabilities. For longer stays, the chalet provides solar-heated hot water and includes gas, electricity, water, and wood for the wood stove; dishes are also provided, while meals (including breakfast) and phone service aren’t included. It also supports organized bivouac/tent use nearby on the terraces.
