Coloane Trail

Coloane Trail (Trilho de Coloane) is a long-distance easy hiking route on Coloane Island in Macau, running along footway paths on unpaved surface. Route length is about 6.81 km, and the hike is typically finished in roughly 2 to 2.5 hours.

The route loops around the hills of Coloane, working its way toward Alto de Coloane and the A-Ma statue/cultural area. Expect a gradual climb through wooded terrain rather than a flat stroll.

Near the high point, you pass features tied to the Coloane uplands, including “Lonesome Rock,” a cliff-edge rock formation described as visible near the summit area.

Because the trail circles the island’s topography, it’s built around multiple access and re-join points; you can tailor the hike and include nearby destinations such as Coloane Village or a detour toward Hac Sa Beach (Black Sand Beach).

One common way to use the route is to start from the A-Ma statue area (or take transport up to it), hike the loop sections from there, and then plan a descent back toward Coloane Village for food and transport options.

If you’re using this route as part of a Macau day plan, it pairs well with other southern-Coloane activities: Hac Sa Beach for a coastal break, and Coloane Village for meals (including Lord Stow’s egg tarts are commonly referenced as a stop).
