Continental Divide Cabin
Continental Divide Cabin is a privately owned wilderness backcountry hut booked by the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association near Leadville, serving as a link between Sangree’s Hut, Emmelyn Hut, and Vance’s Cabin. It’s a single-story cabin that sleeps eight (8) with two private bedrooms (two people each) plus four additional beds in the common area; there are single beds throughout. The hut sits at 10,500 feet and is equipped with a wood stove and a wood oven, plus a solar-powered refrigerator and lights; the on-site water comes from a cistern/snowmelt system in summer and a well-fed cistern arrangement in winter (non-potable for drinking unless filtered).
Reservations are required and the hut charges $480/night. Facilities include an outhouse and a covered walkway, with toilets provided and no shower. On winter approaches, the main route from Tennessee Pass is short (0.8 miles) with about 135 feet of cumulative elevation gain; a longer winter ski/snowshoe route is also available from Crane Park Trailhead (2.8 miles, about 513 feet gain).
Inside prep and basic supplies are spelled out for hut stays: bring your own filter for non-potable water (when applicable), and pack items for cooking/eating use as listed; the hut provides mattresses and pillows. The hut also notes firewood, starter paper, matches, and an ax, along with propane for kitchen burners and the grill on the deck; there’s no grill provided on a fire ring (a deck grill is listed). Dogs are not allowed, and there is no charging beyond a USB gear cart.
