Copper Hut is a backcountry cabin operated by Kootenay Mountaineering Club near Copper Mountain, built in 1985. It sits in a wooded basin near 2000 m elevation and is set up with sleeping for up to 6 people across three bunks, plus a wood stove and basic kitchen gear. Use is for non-motorized access within a two-hectare area around the cabin, and the hut is set up for self-cooking; propane stove/lantern equipment is available on-site, but you must bring your own 1 lb propane bottles for them.

Copper Hut use is public hut access with reservation required. The rate is $25 per person, per night with a 3-night maximum per booking period. Access varies by season: in summer, the standard approach is by high-clearance four-wheel drive along May and Jenny Road (becomes Copper Mountain Road) from Blewett to a pass near Red Mountain and Copper Mountain, then 1–3 hours on foot to the ridge and down an ATV track to the cabin. There is no water at the cabin in either summer or winter, and winter access is described as more difficult due to unsafe avalanche-path crossings, with route-finding needed.
