Crow Hut

Crow Hut is a Department of Conservation standard six-bunk backcountry hut in Ruahine Forest Park (Manawatu/Whanganui). It has a woodstove for heating and an on-site pit latrine; there’s also a river water source nearby. No standard bookings are required—stays are first come, first served, with payment handled via a hut ticket placed in the honesty box at the hut.

Access is by walking up the Kawhatau River from the Rangitane road bridge across the Kawhatau River. During high river flow, this route may not be accessible. Fees are listed on the hut’s official page, with rates shown up to 30 June 2026 and new rates applying from 1 July 2026.
