Cyrillic Peak 2264m Prominence: 994m Located north of Bella Coola, at the head of Humpback Creek and Kalone Creek. This peak is an icredibly rough area, with steep icefalls and glaciers all around. Just 1 km south is another peak with the same contour height. Neigher peak has a spot height on the 1:50,000 map. Named according to the ancient alphabets theme of the area. The Cyrillic alphabet (or azbuka, from the old name of the first letters) is an alphabet used to write six natural Slavic languages (Belarusian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Russian, Serbian, and Ukrainian) and many other languages of the former Soviet Union, Asia and Eastern Europe. There are various systems for Romanization of Cyrillic text, including transliteration to convey Cyrillic spelling in Latin characters, and transcription to convey pronunciation.
