Darwin's Crossing

Darwin's Crossing is the Ring Creek bridge and trail junction that ties the Diamond Head mountain biking network together. It links the university/Garibaldi area side to the bigger “Lava Flow” and “Powerhouse” singletrack systems, making it a common handoff point between multiple named lines.

For riding, treat Darwin's Crossing as the pivot for several connections: Hoods in the Woods, Ring Creek Rip, and access toward the Powerhouse Plunge. Riders typically encounter it as a short approach to start climbs/choose lines, rather than as a standalone descent.

The crossing has been shaped by local build efforts: Squamish off-road riding groups expanded the broader Darwin’s Parking Lot access and collaborated on the crossing early on—starting as a log crossing and progressing to a wooden-truss bridge that was later replaced by a metal bridge.
