Eagle Valley Cabin
Eagle Valley Cabin is a two-story alpine cabin operated by the Ozalenka Alpine Club, set at the toe of an ancient glacier about 9 km from the trailhead. The route to it is typically moderate, with some sections becoming slippery when wet or icy; depending on the year, you may need to cross remnants of large avalanches to reach the cabin. Use is by reservation (booking is required).
Access is described as starting on the Dore River Forest Service Road, driving about 6 km to a junction, taking the left fork (South Dore) signed for Eagle Valley, then continuing about 13 km to a “porky enclosure” trailhead area. From there the trail follows a deactivated logging road for the first ~3 km and then more or less follows the creek for another ~6 km to the cabin. The cabin is stocked with a two-burner propane stove, cooking gear (pots, pans, plates, bowls, cutlery), sleeping pads, solar lighting, and a wood stove with firewood, plus an outhouse.
