Falls Creek Trail #152

Falls Creek Trail #152 is a US Forest Service multi-use hiking route in Washington’s Gifford Pinchot National Forest, mapped as a long-distance “connector” between the Wind River area and Falls Creek Horse Camp. It runs over ground surfaced trail (“path”/ground in mapped data) and is open to hikers, with bicycle and equestrian use also indicated.

A common long out-and-back/point-to-point style plan links Falls Creek Horse Camp with Falls Creek Falls; the trail also works as a longer loop when paired with Falls Creek Trail #152A near the falls. One referenced hiking plan runs from Falls Creek Horse Camp to a clifftop viewpoint above the upper falls, with an option to continue on to the lower-tier falls via the loop description tied to the other route segment.

The route starts from Falls Creek Horse Camp and descends from mid-elevation montane forest, with the character shifting from Douglas-fir/hemlock types toward lower-elevation forest as you work down toward the falls area.

From the falls area, the trail framework includes multiple lava-tube features: Falls Creek Cave is described as a collapsed lava tube system along the route network, with additional collapsed sections along the way and a cave-adjacent junction/approach near the cave trailhead in the shared trail system.

Rim and viewpoint sections are part of the hiking experience on Trail #152: the route is described as traversing rocky rim terrain with established viewpoints that look over the Falls Creek drainage and volcanic peaks in the wider region.

Expect shared-use overlap: the route is described as sharing space with mountain bikers and horseback traffic; one plan also notes that the lower sections near the falls tend to have heavier hiking traffic compared with the upper portions.

Seasonality and access constraints are part of planning here. The route is described as part of the Falls Creek trail system with a defined fee/permit context (Northwest Forest Pass / America the Beautiful Pass) and an access road (FR 3062) that can be gated during winter months (Dec 1–Mar 31).
