Falls Lake Trail

Falls Lake Trail is a 60-mile continuous footpath along the southern shores of Falls Lake, and it functions as a segment of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST).

The trail is signed with official white circle blazes and is broken into 7 designated sections across the Falls Lake corridor.

One commonly used MST day-hike baseline for this corridor is Section 1: Falls Lake Tailrace at Falls of Neuse Road and Raven Ridge Road, mapped as a 3.6-mile hike.

Near the Falls Lake Visitor Center, the route alternates between dips in and out of coves and walking segments along the lake.

The surface is listed as dirt, and the route is designated for foot travel (no bicycle or horse use).

Trail maintenance and stewardship is handled across multiple land agencies and volunteers, and the MST segment along Falls Lake was constructed by volunteers in the early 1980s.
