GR 107 Camí dels bons homes

GR 107 Camí dels bons homes is a long-distance GR trail following the Cathars’ exodus route through the Pyrenees, linking Berga (Santuario de Queralt) with Montségur in France (with a variant itinerary that continues toward Foix).

The trail is typically planned as a multi-day traverse across rugged stages: about 200 km total and commonly broken into 8–10 stages depending on whether you stop at Montségur or continue to Foix.

Route character is high-mountain: passes, demanding ascents, and historical valleys, with the crossing sequence taking you across Catalonia and the Pyrenees toward the Montségur area.

On the ground, the route follows the GR standard marking style: white-and-red painted blazes for long-distance walking, and in parts of the Catalan section you may also see the red Occitan cross marking. There are also route posts/signs, but navigation can get tricky where GR routes overlap briefly.

A practical planning focus on this route is stage logistics and pacing: the traverse passes through towns and also reaches protected natural areas (including the Cadí-Moixeró area) before crossing the Pyrenees via Portella Blanca, then continuing toward Montségur.

Seasonality matters. The route is commonly done in spring when the higher passes are clear, and some hikers choose late summer/early autumn windows; winter snow on high sections can require a winter variant if present.
