Guy Hut
Route Details
Guy Hut is an Alpine Club of Canada backcountry hut in the Wapta area, built primarily to support safer, more comfortable winter crossings of the Bow–Yoho Traverse, with a secondary role as a base for skiing day trips in the southwest Wapta. The hut is open winter only and is also used as a base for accessing Yoho Peak, Mont des Poilus, and Mt. Collie.
Capacity is 18. The hut uses propane for stoves/heating, has electric lighting, and is powered on site by a solar and wind system with propane as backup; there are no power outlets for charging personal devices. Water comes from snow melt; bathrooms are outhouses. The hut is reached via ski touring, with the ACC describing a 20 km access distance and about 820 m of elevation gain for the typical approach described for Mont des Poilus from the Mt Collie area.
