Heifer Hut
Heifer Hut is a backcountry wilderness hut in the Rendezvous system, reachable from the Cedar Creek loop. It’s a small wood-heated hut with an outhouse and propane lighting and cooking, and it’s set up for typical ski-in overnight use in winter.
The hut sleeps up to 10 people (often tighter in practice), and staying there is handled through the Rendezvous huts reservation system. Ski into the hut from Cub Creek (steep 8.4 km route or a longer 13.2 km route); snowshoeing is allowed on the Cub Creek steep approach, and dogs are allowed on this hut access from Cub Creek.
For planning, expect the terrain on the way in to be up and a downhill return; freight/gear haul is available for an extra fee via Cub Creek with a 10:00 am drop window at the trailhead, and you’ll check out by 11:00 am. Plan to bring your own sleeping bag/bedding (and food for cooking in the hut); firewood is provided for the wood stove, and you’ll need a headlamp for times when lighting is out.
