Homestead Trail
Homestead Trail is a stacked loop hike in Prince Edward Island National Park, built around rolling farm fields and wetlands along the shores of New London Bay.
Route length is about 10 km for the long loop; it’s mapped as a loop route (not a straight out-and-back) and stays in a moderate hiking tier.
Expect a mostly flat profile with gently rolling sections and a packed-gravel surface, with some exposed roots in places.
The trail runs through a mix of forest and farmland and includes stream crossings plus Parks Canada bridges.
For the long loop, the trailhead is at 355 Grahams Lane, Cavendish (near Cavendish Campground Visitor Centre area), at approximately 46.49699, -63.40749.
A practical way to use the route is to treat it as a loop network where the stacked segments let you choose the long vs short loop distance—so you can run the full 10 km or trim it down to the shorter option.
