Hopkins Trail

Hopkins Trail is a hiking route on Hopkins Demonstration Forest property in Oregon City that traces the northern property boundary, running parallel to Grouse Hollow Road from Hopkins Hall to Low Gear Road.

The mapped trail access includes connections to the Cedar Grove Picnic Shelter and the Amphitheater, with drinking water and a restroom located nearby at the picnic-area cluster.

On the ground, the route follows the property’s internal trail-and-road system: it links into the Watershed Trails network via the Hopkins Trail junction with nearby loop/connector trails and roads.

The Hopkins Trail is managed as part of a working forest “outdoor classroom” (140 acres) with interpretive signage covering forestry practices and habitat management along the overall network of trails and roads.

Plan for a moderate long-distance hike on paths and roadbed segments inside the forest; the route is treated as a short member-route within the broader hiking trail network rather than a standalone point-to-point trail.

If you’re using a navigation app for the property, there’s a GPS-enabled Hopkins Trail app with points of interest along trails to help you orient around the network.
